My sales philosophy has always been “say what needs to be said enough times to enough people”. Shortly after coining that phrase, I changed it to add the word “right”. Why? Because talking to the wrong folks and telling them what needs said is like talking to a wall. It worked, and has been the staple to my business and leadership success.
Someone asked me once as we were growing our technology company, what is your primary role in leading our company? My answer: Creating jobs. How do you do that? Revenue growth. Every employee in every business ultimately is part of the sales process. Take a look around your business. Show me where somehow, some way, someone is not related to supporting who your company and product is. Everyone counts.
There are thousands of sales books out there. 98% of them are useless. Why? Because 98% of good to terrible sales people read them non-stop always looking for that “next trick” to make them successful. People don’t buy BS. They because they trust the person and the product. Want to be great or the best? Master the basics.
Yes, a sales book can help you have a check up from the neck up but the guy you knew two years ago who was always talking about his latest sales technique is likely two jobs deep on his latest quest to conquer the world. 1) Time Management: The #1 salespeople spend the most time selling. I will teach you how to set your day up to win.
